Robo Square

In Robosquare, we've seen many interesting robots. One of them is called "Pleo", which is a pet dog. It can fetch a bone, shake it's head, wag it's tail and also obeys simple commands such as "sit" and "stand".

Q:What are the uses of robots?

A:They are used for manufacturing process, in our daily life such as robot pet, to clean our house. We will find out more when we are at Robosquare at Kyushu.

Q:What are some ways that robots can be used to improve our lives?

A:Robots help to improve productivity, product quality and consistency, quality of work for employees, to increase production output rates. Robots can be used in in dusting, hazarduous working conditions.

Q:The development of robotics technology can open up more opportunities and create jobs for our citizens. Do you think Singapore can also take the lead in development of the robotics technology?

A:We must have people who have an aptitude for maths and science, love gadgets and working with his/her hamels. University must also offer courses in robotics engineering.

Q:What are the careers on this industry?

A:Robotics technicians can work in any field that uses robots including water treatment, mail sorting, security and food processing.

Kumamoto water system

The tap water in Kumamoto is entirely from natural underground water. The underground water are naturally filtered as rainwater infiltrates under the soil. The underground reservoir would look like a basin. It has good quality as the underground soil are the erupted ashes from Mount Aso. The wells there were also form naturally. However, the water is getting lesser because the comsumption of rice decrease and people used less field for rice and instead use the land for other uses. The water used also increases.

This is how they get the water in Kumamoto.

This is the average amount of water used by the people in Kumamoto.

This is one of the water activities found in Water Science Museum.

One source of clean water in Singapore is NEWater. The used water is treated by the process of reverse osmosis. This clean process water is pumped back into the reservior.

Q:What are the differences in the water system in Kumamoto and in Singapore?

A: Japan treats underground water while Singapore has four main sources of water, namely collection of rainwater from drains and reservoir, processing from NEWater, desalination of sea water, purchasing from other country(Malaysia).

Q:What are the 4 main source of water in Singapore?

A:The four main sources of water in Singapore are from the sea (approx.20%), NEWater(approx.30%) Neighbour(approx.40% from Malaysia) and collection of rainwater(approx.10%).

Q:What are the uses of water in Kumamoto other than drinking?

A:Water can be used in industries and even for daily needs.

Q:How are robots employed to help man in the car industry?

A:Robots are employed in the assembly line to assemble parts of the cars together.

Q:What careers are available in the car industry?

A:Motoring journalist, photographer, other motoring media (TV etc.), engineer, test driver (media OR manufacturer) designer, modeller, automotive consultant, car salesman.
